Privacy notice
Family Recipe Legacy is an early release for preserving recipes and the memories connected to them.
What the site keeps
Account details supplied through sign-in, recipes, stories, family recipient records, sharing choices, photos, audio, video, and basic security records needed to operate the service. When you send feedback, your account name and email, the page path, and your message are emailed to the site operator. The feedback message is not retained in the application database; bounded submission identifiers, fingerprints, delivery status, and attempt times are kept to prevent duplicates and spam.
How information is used
Information is used to save your private Recipe Box, show content to people you explicitly choose, protect access, and diagnose failures. The site does not sell personal information or use family content for advertising.
Service providers
Clerk handles account sign-in and secure account invitations, Convex stores application records and uploaded media, Vercel hosts the website, and Resend sends recipe invitation and feedback emails. If automatic recipe-card formatting is connected and you choose to use it, OpenRouter sends copies of the selected photos to xAI's Grok 4.5 model to propose an editable recipe draft. xAI processes this information to operate the service under its own security and privacy commitments.
Optional AI photo formatting
AI formatting is optional. It runs only after you choose it for saved recipe-card photos. Copies of those selected photos are sent through OpenRouter only to xAI's standard zero-data-retention Grok 4.5 endpoint. The production route denies provider data collection and disables OpenRouter response caching. xAI may still use transient in-memory prompt caching under its ZDR policy. OpenRouter retains content-free usage information, such as request time, model, provider, and token counts, but not recipe photos or generated recipe text unless account-level prompt logging or data sharing is enabled. Production setup requires both settings to remain off. The original photos remain attached to your recipe, and the proposed text stays a draft until you compare it with the cards and confirm your review. Do not use AI formatting for a card that contains unrelated sensitive information.
Sharing and copies
A recipe begins private. You can share it as read only or allow the recipient to save a separate editable copy. Read only removes the site's copy action, but it cannot prevent printing, photographs, screenshots, or manual transcription. You can stop future access to the original, but a copy someone already made cannot be recalled.
Recordings and other people
Only upload a person's voice, image, story, or personal information when you have permission to preserve and share it. Do not use the site for content that requires professional medical, legal, or financial confidentiality.
Retention, deletion, and backups
Automated account export and deletion are not yet available. Ask the person who invited you to coordinate a manual deletion request. Keep your original cards and irreplaceable recordings; this site is not yet the only copy you should trust.
Children
The site is intended for adults managing family materials. Do not create an account for a child or upload sensitive information about a child without a parent or guardian's permission.
Questions or changes
Contact the family member who invited you with privacy or deletion questions. Material changes to this notice will be dated on this page.
